08/29/2009

If you are going to have a network setup of your own then you should use such material on which you can completely trust. In the case of networking materials you can easily trust on CISCO as compared to other companies. CISCO is the only brand that manufactures such a wide variety of networking products that no other company can reach to such extent. So for your own setup you should go with CISCO cables only. It’s up to you that either you want to use new CISCO Cables or you want to go for used Cisco cables.

You can use any one of them because both are manufactured by CISCO but the difference between them is just time. Used cable is being manufactured earlier then the new one. If you want to reduce your budget or you want to minimize your cost then you should go for used CISCO cables. But you should remember one thing while purchasing used cables that they should be good enough to take your load easily. If they are not up to the standard then your system would definitely collapse.

Mix Up With The Iseries Servers

08/27/2009

Somehow there were four iseries servers installed into the local library when they were supposed to go into the post office. No one knows how the mix up happened but hopefully it will get straightened out soon. I heard that the postmaster is livid.

He ended up with used bladecenter servers that are older than a dinosaur. That is what he said, and the newspaper quoted him on it. It is now the town joke; everybody had been saying they are older than a dinosaur.

I guess that somehow the work orders came through email and the printer printed them out of order. The first one was supposed to be for the post office and four iseries servers and the second was to be for four used bladecenter servers for the library.

I would guess that we taxpayers will be footing the bill to have them put in the proper places, even though it was not our fault. No one ever pays for their mistakes anymore, it is very frustrating. If my taxes are raised again this year, I will contribute it to the mix up of the iseries and bladecenter servers and make sure that it is reversed. I would think that all of us that are older than dinosaurs feel the same way.
